Weather Report, July 9th, 2011, Ninnescah Biological Station:
Isolated thunderstorms, temperature reaches 111 degrees!! At about 8 pm we saw the thunderstorms develop to the north of the station. Wisps of rain dropped from the clouds, but it appeared that the rain evaporated before reaching the ground. It's possible that Gerber Reserve received a bit of rain, but it skirted by Ninnescah without even so much as a drop. The blowing dirt made for a great sunset that evening... offset by fabulous lightning... the kind that starts grass fires. This week, it appears that everyday the temperatures will be 99 degrees or in excess. Be prepared for field ecology class with lots of water and a wide-brimmed hat!
